Attorney Heads Walk

Kalinthia Dillard, an attorney who lives west of Lake Worth, is chairwoman of the West Palm Beach Chapter of The Links' annual Walk for Health and Wellness on Sept. 24, 2005 at the Palm Beach Mall, according to the group.   Proceeds will benefit the Child's Outreach, Inc.   Founded in 1946, The Links is an international black women's service organization. The West Palm Beach chapter was founded in 1968, according to The Links' Web site.   "The Children's Coalition does a lot of work in the western part of the county," said Dillard, an associate in the West Palm Beach office of the Broad and Cassel law firm. "That part of the county has been ignored, so we chose them as the beneficiary. We're hoping to increase participation and we've asked local organizations to put teams together. We have a team from the Cunningham Bar Association and a team from the Coalition of 100 Black Women. We're trying to get a team from the black Greek organizations and the Black Chamber of Commerce. "   Dillard has been a Links member for three years, and says the opportunities for community service and camaraderie are among the qualities she values most in the organization.   "We spend a lot of time getting to know each other," she said. "Our youngest member is 30 years old, and we also have people in our 70s, but the most important aspect is public service. We have members who are lawyers and teachers, and we get out there and work with youth."
Dillard is working with co-chairwoman Kimberly Cunningham and chapter president Sia Barnes to plan the event. Walk registration costs $10 per person. Call 561-832-3300 for more information.
